MFTP 1.34
=========
Dear mftp user,
Only minor changes were made in 1.34 due to the fact that I'm spending
most of my time with programming mftp II. At this moment (31.3.96) it is
only capable to connect to remote hosts and retrieve the directory list
(but in a far better way than mftp 1.34 does).
The next things I have to program are filetransfer and a sophisticated
directory caching (which will show you the files which are new since
the last time you connected to a host !). If this is acomplished you will
find some alpha test releases on http://www.unizh.ch/~dolphin/mftp .
After that I'll implement an AmiNet Download Tool (simmilar to AmFTP -
just better :) ).
Here some other features which will be included:
* every host has its individual setup !
* drag and drop (i.g. drag and drop files from the Workbench or copy
a file DIRECTLY from one host to another - without saving it on your
amiga first !!!)
* saves memory while running
* everything will be interruptable (yes, even those requesters
which appear while building a connection ! :)
* copy directories recursively
* improoved caching (faster)
* config file in IFF format (changes in its structure won't
affect the user anymore)
* and hopefully (!) : proxy server support !
Those who experienced problems with getting the contents of /aminet/recent
will find the new added abort button useful. It will appear when mftp
tries to get the real sizes of links.
If you don't like this behaviour you will have to set "Treat links as:"
either to "Files" or "Directories" !! If you set it to "Auto" mftp tries
to check every link in a directory and since all files in /aminet/recent
are links this may take a while.
Have fun,
Michael
